The Department of Kurdish Language in the College of Education, Makhmur, Salahaddin University, Erbil was established in 2012 and the course of study in this department is four years.
Graduates of the Kurdish Language Department of our college obtain a Bachelor's degree in Kurdish Language and Literature. The subjects they study include: Linguistics, Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Pragmatics, Linguistics, Contemporary Literature, Theoretical and Practical Criticism Educational, Measurement and Evaluation, Teaching Methods, Visualization and Training.
Every year, the Kurdish Language Department receives a good number of students, because this department is dedicated to preparing teachers for Kurdish language, in line with the principles of the Bologna process, so that students have the skills to teach Kurdish language and literature.

Assistant Professor Dr. Amir Muhammad muhammadamin , born in January 1970, holds a bachelor's degree from Sallahadin University , of Erbil, College of Arts, Department of Kurdish Language in Kurdish Language and Literature - Collage of Arts at Salahaddin University (1989_1993). and Master's degree in (Morphosyntax/ Language) in Collage of Education at Salahaddin University_ Erbil (2014).
Issuance of a university decree (Raperin University) on 8/2/2015, No. 7/10/447, to promote the scientific rank of (Assistant Lecturer), which was calculated on 8/2/2015. Issuance of a university decree (Salahaddin University- Erbil) on 18/3/2019, No. 1/1/2954, to promote the scientific degree of (Lecturer), which is calculated on 14/12/2018. PhD in Language-Sociolinguistics - College of Language at Salahaddin University- Erbil (2022). Entitled, (Lingua Franca in Sociolinguistics, Kurdistan Region as a Sample).
Issuance of a university decree (Salahaddin University- Erbil) on 60/60/2024, No. 8239, to promote the scientific degree of (Assistant Professor), which is calculated on 60/12/2023. 20/11/1993 - Erbil Education Directorate - Secondary School Teacher. Transfer to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, according to the university decree number 7/19/271 on 23/1/2012 in Raperin University, Faculty of Education - Qaladze on 23/1/2012 in the afternoon, then transferred to Salahaddin University - Erbil ، College of Education- Makhmur.

The Department of Kurdish Language is an important part of the College of Education-Makhmour in Salahaddin University-Erbil. It has students in all four grades and its teaching staff consists of Kurdish Language different linguistic and literary experts Development.
VisionThe vision and goal of the Kurdish Language Department is to develop and train the linguistic ability of its students on the principles of Kurdish linguistics and literature through training and practice, so that they are prepared and trained in terms of truth, accuracy and spirituality.
non-Another vision of the Kurdish Language Department is to connect students to the labor market after graduation and play an active role in educational centers and governmental and governmental institutions. They should also teach the Kurdish language correctly in their workplaces and pass on the skills they have learned in the field of Kurdish language and literature at university to the next generation, so that the Kurdish language like the languages of the world remains alive.
The Kurdish Language Department of Makhmur College of Education prepares its graduates in four academic years as follows :
- Teaching general knowledge in primary education through the implementation of educational theories and principles.
- Teaching and presenting language and literature lessons in a planned manner by teachers, in accordance with the teaching curriculum and standards.
- Because our college is an educational college, we pay great attention to (teaching methods and psychology) to expand the minds of students to educate an innovative generation.
- Producing qualified teachers according to a program designed for public and non-governmental schools under the Ministry of Education.
- Studying the Bologna Process and assessing and measuring students' achievements and skills through the ECTS system, where students become the focus of learning, which eventually become competent teachers
- Paying attention to group work and practical aspects so that students enjoy the learning process, so that they can be connected to the outside world and the labor market.

The postgraduate program (Master's and potentially Ph.D., depending on the institution) in Kurdish Language and Literature aims to deepen students' theoretical understanding and professional expertise in Kurdish linguistics, literary studies, cultural heritage, and language preservation. - Zankoline (government-funded) Study
- Description: This option provides free tuition for students who meet the eligibility criteria and are accepted through the general centralized admission system, known as "Zancoline."
- Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet the academic requirements of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
- Selection is competitive and based on high school scores, particularly in scientific subjects.
- Benefits:
- Exemption from tuition fees.
- Access to complete university services and facilities.
- Parallel Study (Self-Funded)
- Description: This option allows students who do not secure a Zankoline seat to pursue their studies by paying a tuition fee.
- Tuition Fee: 3,000,000 IQD per year.
- Eligibility:
- Students must meet the minimum academic requirements for admission to the Biology program.
- This option provides additional opportunities for students to catch up on the Zankoline criteria.
- Benefits:

- Academic Qualifications:

Graduate Employability
Department of Kurdish Language was established in 2012. The department initially had 50 students and 4 lecturers. However, in subsequent years there was a significant progress in terms of the number of students and lecturers. It currently has 15 lecturers and 200 students. There are different scientific ranks within the acadernic: staff ranging from assistant professors to professors. The academic staff consists of 9 male lecturers and 6 female lecturers. A great number of students have completed higher education (master's and doctoral) in this department The department pays great attention to science and education. It has prepared many teachers for the Ministry of Education who have been trained with the weapons of education and science. Graduates of the Kurdish Department teach Kurdish language and literature in schools within the structure of the Ministry of Education in the Kurdistan Regional government. The Kurdish Department has also paid great attention to cultural activities since its establishment. Various conferences and seminars are held annually in the department. Thai is, several activities related to Kurdish language, literature and culture are held yearly and the talents of students of the Department are highlighted.
There are also other scientific activities of the Kurdish Language Department including writing books and research on all outstanding topics related to Kurdish language, literature and culture
Another Scientific activity is related to comparative work which is conducted in both literature and linguistics. In linguistics, comparisons are made with English language, and in literature, comparisons are made between Kurdish and Persian literature.
In 2023, for the first time, the department gave the opportunity to students to do their Masters degrees
Academic Advising
The program is structured to include 120 ECTS over two academic years: Coursework (60 ECTS): Advanced topics in Kurdish language and literature tailored to the student's area of specialization. These may include advanced Kurdish grammar and syntax, literary theory and criticism, Kurdish historical linguistics, translation methodology, research methods in literary studies, and comparative Kurdish literature. Research Thesis (60 ECTS): An independent research project in the field of Kurdish language or literature, culminating in a thesis defense. The thesis demonstrates the student's ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world linguistic or literary issues through systematic investigation and original scholarship.
